Are you ready for summer? 2025 Calendar, Volunteering, and Dry Slips

Summer 2025 season

We are getting ready for the summer season, are you? In April, our dock and equipment committee members have been getting lifts in the water and preparing the dock for summer.

For many of us, summer isn’t summer unless we are on the dock or the clubhouse at the EYC!

Starting June 7th, we have many activities going on each week including racing on Eagle Harbor in Scots, Optis, 420s, Lasers, and Terras;  playing Bunco, Bridge or Mah Jongg  in the clubhouse; and our opening social on June 14th.  To learn more about all the happenings at the EYC  use this link to our 2025 Calendar

Clean-up day Saturday, May 23

We are looking forward to seeing you at our annual pre-season Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 25th from 9:00 a.m. -12:00p.m.  Come out and help us get things in order for the summer 2025 season.  We will have coffee and donuts for all those intrepid and marvelous volunteers who join us.

Volunteering at the EYC

Join our crew! The EYC relies on volunteers to coordinate and manage our regattas, social events and activities.  We encourage our returning and new members to check out all our listings; flip pancakes, sell merchandise, scoop ice cream, set marks and more!  These events will be happening in the first few weeks of the season and need volunteers: Junior Activity, June 11th, EYC Friday Pop-Up shop June 14th, Opening Social, June 14th, ARM  Fyr Ball  Pancake Breakfast, June 21st.  Of course, we have many opportunities over the summer to support the club so check out all the listings.  Many of our wonderful members are ready to coordinate these events and just need your to help make it a success.  For details on each volunteer opportunity and sign-up, use this link EYC Volunteering

Dry slips available

If you haven’t already booked your dry slip/locker for Summer 2025 now is the time! The EYC has a variety of dry slips available for rent to club members including: Flying Scot or Laser Dry Slip  seasonal ($527.50) , Flying Scot or Laser Dry Slip weekly ($126.80), Optimist (stacked not Dolly) ($105.50). The seasonal slip rental period runs from Monday, May 26, until Friday, September 26.  Reserve your slip here Dry Slip Rental.  For questions please email [email protected]
Slips may not be assigned or sublet.  Additionally, the EYC, at its discretion, may request you to remove your boat from the dock for major regattas, such as the Ephraim Regatta, if your boat is not being utilized for the event.  We appreciate your understanding to ensure the success of our regattas.

Passing of Rose Marie Klein

The EYC was deeply saddened by the passing of Rose Marie ( Rosie) Klein on Thursday, January 16th.  Rosie was a member of the Ephraim Yacht Club and for more than 40 years, she and her family proudly hosted the Ephraim Yacht Club Bratfest, creating lasting memories for all.  Our sincerest condolences go out to all her family and friends.

Men’s Golf Outing July 3rd

Still riding the high from Rory’s thrilling Masters win last weekend?
Whether you’re inspired to flex your golf chops or just ready to soak up some summer sunshine, mark your calendar for an epic day of golf and good company!

Join us Thursday, July 3rd at 11:30 a.m. for the EYC Men’s Golf Outing at the Peninsula State Park Golf Course, overlooking picturesque Eagle Harbor.  This is your chance to swing the sticks, enjoy some laughs, and take in the views with fellow EYC members. Whether you’re a scratch golfer or just along for the ride, it’s sure to be a great day.

Flying Scott Fleet 44 Update

Flying Scot North American Championship, June 25-28, 2025.

The NACs are back in the Midwest District for the first time in a long time.  They will be held at the Carlyle Sailing Association in Carlyle, Illinois.  Here is the link for more information NAC Link

Flying Scot Midwest Direct Championship, August 1-3, 2025.

We are excited that the Flying Scot Midwest District Championship has rotated back to EYC and will be held in conjunction with the Ephraim Regatta this year.  Since this is a district championship, we anticipate that more racers will be in attendance.  EYC members who are interested in racing or volunteering during this event please contact Woody Heidler at [email protected],

We are also looking for a host to house Dan Leach (Fleet Captain for Clinton Lake) and Chris Tesdal for the Districts/Ephraim Regatta.  Housing is a great way to extend EYC hospitality.  There are additional sailors who have also expressed interest in coming to Ephraim if housing is available.  Please contact Nancy Claypool at [email protected]

Fleet Activities

If you’re looking for help getting your boat ready for the season or would like to join in on some chalk talks, feel free to reach out. I also hope we’ll have plenty of chances for those interested to socialize and unwind after racing, Mondays and Saturdays.

Flying Scot Midwinters 2025.

Congratulations to Michael Faugust, Jennifer Ikeda (and yours truly) who placed fifth in the Championship Division.  I must note that a couple of us had a conversation during the Midwinters with Terry Dees and her husband, Dan Kolenich, at Ft. Walton.  Terry Dees was the Flying Scot Class President in 1995 and she and her husband, Dan Kolenich, attended the 2009 NACs at EYC and commented during this event that it was best NAC she ever attended.  When Michael Faugust asked her what made it memorable, she started out by complimenting our staff – who helped park boats, unload and transport gear, get masts up, and otherwise assisted wherever they could.  She also mentioned that all of our events were terrific and, for the most part, kept all the racers together over the course of the event.  So, here we are about 16 years later and our event is still well remembered.  Kudos to EYC!

EYC Directory Information

EYC directories are delivered to all member’s winter address (directory delivery expected mid-late May).  Many members, spend their summers in Door County and have their mail forwarded.  However, unless members have signed up for premiere USPS mailing forwarding, the directory will not be forwarded as it does not qualify and often will in fact be trashed by USPS.
Please email [email protected] and let the directory committee know if you prefer to have your directory held at EYC for pick up instead of mailed for the summer season.
Please reply by Monday, April 7th. 

Next Tuesday is the Renewal Deadline for inclusion in the EYC Directory

When renewing your membership, please check that your  address, email and telephone numbers for your account are correct and if not, please send an email with changes to [email protected] and one of the membership volunteers will edit your CE account information. It may be cold outside but, warm EYC summer days await.  So, finish your cup of hot chocolate/coffee/tea and renew your EYC membership for the 2025 season.  Renewal notice sent were sent out mid-January.  If you did not see it, please check your spam folder and/or ask your partner to check their email and spam.
When renewing your membership, please check  that your  address, email and telephone numbers for your account are correct and if necessary, [email protected] with the needed changes and one of the membership volunteers will edit your account information. 2025 Lesson Registration Begins Tomorrow- February 1st

The countdown to summer starts now! EYC lesson registrations opens on Saturday, February 1st at 8:00 a.m. We have 11 Sessions for 2025 with two week sessions offered in sessions A, B, C, D, and E.

The EYC operates one of the largest and oldest sailing schools in the midwest.  We offer lessons from beginner to advanced, racing and power boating skills, youth and adults, and one and two weeks sessions are available.
