Bridge Continues at EYC
The summer series of bridge lessons has completed, but bridge will continue on Thursday mornings from now until the Club closes at the end of September. All are welcome to attend on Thursdays, from 9:30 until Noon, whether you were in the lesson series or not. The Thursday format uses pre-dealt hands with lesson concepts reviewed, or if you prefer, you may group in fours and play in the usual Monday afternoon “open play” format.
Monday open play bridge continues from 1:00 until 3:30 with the same format of rotating partners every four hands.
The popular Tuesday couples group continues, with about 20 people playing each Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. Bring a partner and plan to join the group for dinner after (optional, but extra fun continues!).
Attention Flying Scot racers of all skill levels: Join us on Saturday, August 15 for an on-the-water coaching session, where we will pair skippers and crew of different skill levels to race around a W/L course in Eagle Harbor. It is a chance to get pointers or to give back and help coach others. You do not need to come with skipper, crew or boat, just your life jacket and personal gear. We would love to get more experienced sailors to join us and help give pointers to those with less experience. First warning signal at 10:00 AM. Also seeking a volunteer for safety boat. Any questions, please contact Jennifer Ikeda Faugust at [email protected]
Session E-“Best of the EYC”
Yet another section of the popular Powerboat Skills class is now open in the mornings for the week of August 10-14. The cost is $180. The class is open to students age 12 and up, youth and adults. Those born after 12/31/88 must obtain a Boater Education Card before beginning the class.
Opti Racing was another successful class this summer. An additional section will be offered in the mornings from 9 am till noon, August 10-14. This class is perfect for those sailors not yet old enough for Intermediates and/or anyone up to age 15 wanting to improve racing skills or prepare for Optimist competitions outside the EYC. The cost for this course is $180.
Beginners and Intermediates will be offered in the mornings, and Beginners and Adventure Sailing are available in the afternoons of August 10-14.
