It’s here, the biggest party of the year! It’s time to gather your friends, make your reservation and join us for a fun filled evening on April 9th. You can sip a martini, bid on the many fabulous silent auction items, and dance to the music of Old Blue Eyes (aka Frank Sinatra) as presented by Dave Impey and his Martini Trio.
The Lake Forest Club will be transformed into the best 1960’s nightclub ever, with Chef Luke preparing standing roasts for the carving station along with other famous culinary delights that would make the Chairman’s mouth water!
Let’s keep those D.C. kids on the water — the Olympics are never more that a few years away! Join us for the 4th annual EYC Aaron R Moore Sailing Scholarship Fundraiser.
As parts of the country begin to thaw, thoughts turn to summer. The 2016 Lesson Schedule and Registration details are now available on the EYC website (www.eyc.org/lessons.) The sailing season is short in Ephraim. Memorial Day is less than three months away. Now is an excellent time to dust off those textbooks and report cards, watch sailing videos with your student, find some local college or high school races, attend a seminar, or sail over Spring Break.
New in 2016
Beginner Full Day: A one week, full day Beginner class will be offered once in June and once in August. The same curriculum will be followed as in the two week class. Students will be supervised by staff over the lunch hour at the club. Perfect for those with limited time in Door County.
Intro to Lasers: Students who have passed the Beginner class can now continue to improve their single-handed dinghy techniques by moving directly to the Laser using the EYC’s new Laser 4.7 rigs. The Laser 4.7 is a smaller rig on the standard Laser hull, allowing students as light as 77 pounds to transition from Optis to Lasers. Students will learn to rig and sail a Laser in a range of wind conditions. This is an ideal opportunity to accelerate and further develop helmsmanship and boathandling skills in the largest one-design class widely raced in high school, college, Junior Olympics and Olympics. We look forward to introducing our younger sailors to the Laser this summer!
Also new this year, student memberships must be purchased before registering for class via Club Express. Please contact Jodi Hoyerman at [email protected] for a discount code before purchasing the student membership. Prices for classes remain the same as in 2015, so take advantage of our excellent staff and course options. We look forward to seeing you at the club!
Any questions regarding classes or registration? Please contact [email protected].

Most of us are a part of the EYC because we love sailing, being on the water, and Ephraim. This week, we are thankful for the “so much more” that makes up our EYC summers~
the life long friendships that extend beyond the clubhouse and between the generations
the smiles
the pure fun on Wednesday nights
seeing a beginner “get it” for the first time
friendly competition
the many who work the behind the scenes
following a student from beginner to college racer
catching the joy of mastering the bowline or docking
the spirit of sharing tips and strategies among competitors
the confidence built from tackling high winds
burgers on the grill
pulling together when a challenge arises
sunsets on the dock
The list could go on and on. We are thankful that the EYC is a part of our lives and thankful for those generations before us and alongside us who have invested so much time and effort to keep this lovely enterprise going. A special thanks to the parents and grandparents of all our students, the students themselves, and of course, the staff, who are the heartbeat of the lesson program.
Best wishes,
The EYC Education Committee
