Rich Hall Junior Regatta July 15 / Junior Activities Correction

The EYC’s annual RICH HALL JUNIOR REGATTA is the afternoon of Sunday, July 15.  This regatta is raced in Flying Juniors, and is limited to competitors who have not yet reached their 18th birthday.  The skippers meeting is at 1:30 PM and the first race is scheduled for 2:00 PM.

The lottery for EYC members to skipper an EYC-owned Flying Junior in the Rich Hall Junior Regatta will be held in advance.  To enter, send an e-mail to EYC Director Alex Zalar [email protected] prior to 3:00 PM on Friday, July 13, giving your name and stating that you wish to be included in the Rich Hall Regatta boat lottery.

You do not have to be present in person during the July 13 lottery.  Skippers who win a boat in the lottery will be notified by e-mail by the end of the day on July 13.  Winning skippers can choose their own crew.  If not all FJs are drawn in the e-mail lottery, the remaining FJs will be placed in a second, in-person lottery which will take place at 1:00 PM on Sunday, July 15.  Skippers who enter the lottery are expected to compete in the entire Rich Hall Regatta, unless they choose not to sail for reasons of safety.  No priority will be given to any person in the Rich Hall Regatta lottery.

There is no lower age limitation to compete in the Rich Hall Regatta, there is no entry fee, and no EYC skipper’s license is required to compete.  However, parents are urged to use good judgment in deciding whether to allow their juniors to compete, taking into account expected weather, size, strength, and experience.
