The Ephraim Regatta is Coming Soon / Opti Regatta Details

This year’s Ephraim Regatta is Friday July 30 through Sunday, August 1.  The Regatta is always a lot of fun for sailors and non-sailors alike.  We expect a big turnout of visiting sailors this year!

Sailors, remember that to get an early registration discount, your Ephraim Regatta registration must be postmarked by July 15.  For the regatta schedule, registration form, Notice of Race and other information about the Ephraim Regatta, go to www.eyc.org/racing

Two great parties take place in conjunction with the Regatta.  All EYC members are encouraged to attend, regardless of whether they are participating in the Regatta:

The legendary Bratfest hosted by the Klein family is Saturday, July 31 at 6:00 PM.  As always, the Bratfest will include all-you-can-eat grilled brats, roasted sweet corn, beer and soft drinks, as well as music, volleyball, and visting your friends and fellow EYC members.  Parents are reminded to supervise their children at the Bratfest.

The Regatta Welcome Party at Jay Lott’s house is Friday, July 30 at 6:00 PM.  Now in its fourth year, this party includes all-you-can eat grilled meats and veggies, smoked salmon, beer, soft drinks, music, volleyball, croquet, bocce ball and horseshoes. Volunteers are still needed to help with the Regatta Welcome Party, for one-hour shifts as door person, beer monitor, and cooks helpers.  Volunteers get free admission to the party.  To volunteer please contact Jay Lott [email protected]

The EYC looks forward to having Harry Carpenter as a competitor in this year’s Ephraim Regatta.  Harry will sail with his daughter Carrie Carpenter as crew.  Harry is the President of Flying Scot Inc., the sole boat builder of the Flying Scot class.  Harry would like to borrow a Flying Scot to race in the Regatta (he does not need to borrow sails).  If you have a Scot in good racing condition which Harry could borrow, please contact Ephraim Regatta chairman Jay Lott [email protected]

A few volunteers are also needed to help the Ephraim Regatta Race Committee and to help with towing and rescue.  If you would like to help, especially if you have a powerboat, please contact Ephraim Regatta chairman Jay Lott [email protected]

The EYC’s Optimist regatta is Sunday, July 11.  Boat draw for EYC-owned boats is at 9:45 AM.  Skippers meeting 10:00 AM, first race 11:00 AM.  Optimist racers please remember: class rules require that competitors must have been born on or after January 1, 1995; and you must have a whistle attached with a lanyard to your PFD while racing.  For more details see www.eyc.org/racing.  Questions?  Contact Optimist regatta chairman John Peterson [email protected]
