2015 Lesson Schedule Preview
The Education Committee is hard at work finalizing the registration process for 2015. Registration should be open by mid-February. You will receive an e-mail notification when the system is available. In the meantime, please look carefully over the 2015 schedule. Due to changing demand, the lesson schedule is shifting to later in the summer. Lessons will begin with a two week Session A, running from June 15-June 26, followed by two weeks each of B, C, and D. Sessions E and F will be one week sessions at the end of the summer. We have several new and exciting options for 2015-Adventure Sailing and Power Boat Skills. This year’s Women’s Sailing Class will focus on Beginner and Intermediate skills. Bobby Collins will be returning for two Opti Clinics in July. Plans are in the works for a Flying Scot clinic in July, with details to follow later. As always, our fabulous staff will be available for private lessons. Please check out our website at http://ephraimyc.wpengine.com/lessons/ for more information.

Work at the EYC!
The EYC is now in the process of accepting applications for Senior and Junior Instructor positions for the Summer of 2015. If you wish to be considered, please submit a request, along with your resume, to Commodore Jack O’Rourke at [email protected]. In particular, list your sailing experience, what you will do to contribute to the sailing program and whether you are/intend to be US Sailing Level 1 or 2 certified. Level 1 is required for all Junior Instructors. The lesson program will run from June 15-August 21, 2015. Please state clearly the dates you will be available. All applications should be submitted by January 30, 2015.
Do you have a child interested in working at the EYC? Some things to consider: The EYC expects its Junior Instructors to be US Sailing Level 1 certified. Courses are generally offered late Spring at venues around the country. A component of that course is previous competency in power boat skills. Spring Break is a great opportunity to refresh or learn these skills. For those hoping to apply to work in 2016, the EYC will offer a course in Power Boat Skills in 2015. Additionally, any experience on a high school sailing team will be a great advantage in the application process.
It is with sadness that we inform you that long time EYC member Arvid W Munson passed away on Nov 14th, 2014 at his home in Fish Creek. Arvid served as Commodore at EYC in 1998 and 1999. He is survived by his wife and First Mate Lola.

A gathering in his memory is planned for 2015.
It is with sadness that we inform you of the passing of long time EYC member Sallie Heidler. Sallie was a committed volunteer at EYC, serving as First Mate to her beloved husband Frank while he was Commodore from 1976-1979. She and Frank were in charge of the EYC’s Annual Ephraim Regatta Race Committee for 30 years.

Saturday September 27 at 9:00 am, the club needs assistance storing 420’s and Lasers for the winter. We are looking for 8 to 10 strong people to assemble storage racks and move boats into position. The more manpower the faster the job will go. Please contact Jack O’Rourke with questions. [email protected]
It has been an exciting time at EYC this week!! Thanks to all who have helped this week to tie down, secure and tidy up after the storms.
Thank you to Guy and Dori Bush and their family for their generous donation of Flying Scot #551 to the EYC. We are grateful for their contribution!!
Thank you to everyone who helped close the EYC on the morning of Saturday, August 30! Those who helped knows there was plenty of work to go around! Thanks to all of the hard work we were able to finish before Noon. We were fortunate in that the rain held off until the work was finished. The rain came at Noon and forced us to move inside to enjoy the welcome lunch prepared by Jodi Hoyerman. Thanks, Jodi! It was great!

Most projects should be finished before noon. There are jobs for persons of all ages, abilities, and strengths. The EYC will provide a burger and hot dog lunch for those who help. BYO beverages. The picnic will also feature an awards ceremony for the EYC’s 2014 series races.
The EYC relies heavily on its member volunteers to open and close the EYC each season, which helps hold down dues and makes the EYC accessible for all. Last year over 50 EYC members helped close the EYC. Please help us exceed that number this year!
