2020 Season Update
Dear EYC Members,
We hope you are all staying safe and healthy at home. These uncertain times of COVID-19 are stressful for all of us as we try to navigate through uncharted waters. At this time the board has canceled all member activities scheduled prior to June 22, 2020. The board will meet again May 23rd to determine if we are still able to meet the revised June 22nd opening date or if further schedule changes will be required. Any additional revisions to the schedule will be communicated on May 25th.
Although we all want nothing more than to return to our normal operations of offering a summer filled with sailing lessons, races, regattas and numerous social events, our priority is and will always be the safety of our members, staff and students. Please know that your board and a large group of volunteers are working to launch our season when we are assured we can do so in a safe manner.
Your treasured EYC Directories will be sent via mail this year. Take this opportunity to reach out to your EYC friends with a phone call or email. We are all in this together and now more than ever crave interaction with our friends and fellow members.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
EYC Board of Directors
The 2020 EYC Aaron R Moore Sailing Scholarship Fundraiser Cancelled
The 2020 EYC Aaron R Moore Sailing Scholarship Fundraiser
has been Cancelled and Rescheduled for Saturday June 26, 2021
COVID-19 has impacted us all in so many ways. Our primary concern is for the health and well
being of our members and the people and community we love and serve.
Given the recent recommendations, we have decided to cancel our June 26, 2020 Scholarship
Fundraiser to be held at NorthernHaus. This was not an easy decision to make, but we feel it to
be in the best interest of both our cherished supporters and the community at large. We
appreciate your understanding.
This summer will look very different for all of us, but especially our Door County businesses.
We cannot in good faith ask them for auction donations, which make up a good portion of our
fundraiser revenue. We ask you, our members and friends, to please support them this summer
as you are best able.
Mark your calendars for 2021!
We are happy to announce that the Fundraiser has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 26,
2021, (exactly one year later), at NorthernHaus in Sister Bay. Mark your calendars for the 2021
Gala! We look forward to seeing you in your party clothes ready to celebrate together!
We are deeply committed to the ongoing support of our scholarship fund and we appreciate
your understanding during this ever-changing situation. Should you have any questions, please
don’t hesitate to email us at [email protected].
Stay safe and stay well!
Sincerely,
The Moore Family
Rob, Sherry, Adam and Barb

Spring is on it’s way, so it’s time to start thinking about Summer Bridge
EYC Bridge Registration starts now
It’s finally February! Those long winter nights will turn into long summer days before we know it.
Please take note of the summer 2020 bridge schedule and registration information for lessons, open play and couples bridge.
Lessons
We are pleased to announce that we have secured a teacher to lead our Thursday morning lesson series! Our new teacher, Barbara Robinson, comes highly recommended, and will be assisted by her husband Dave.
Group Lessons for experienced players (not beginners) will be held on Thursday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Lessons will be based on the Standard American system, and will utilize pre-dealt hands based on the lesson presented. The lessons will consist of a 5 week series, beginning July 2. The curriculum is designed to be most effective with regular attendance. We will not be able to accommodate a non-registered student “filling in” for an absent student.
The cost is $80.00, which includes the lessons and any teaching materials. Checks should be made payable to Barbara Robinson (not EYC)
To enroll, please download, complete and mail this LESSON REGISTRATION to Suzanne Lisle. We cannot take reservations via the web or phone. Enrollment priority will be based on the postmark date of the mailed check and form. If the class fills, we will maintain a wait list and you will be notified of your status.
Please contact Suzanne Lisle via email if you have questions: [email protected] (please put EYC bridge on the subject line).
Since the lesson series does not begin until July, the format for Thursday mornings beginning June 11 will be open play/review. (same time, 9:30 – noon)
Open Play
will be held on Monday afternoons beginning June 8th from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Open play will also be held on Thursday mornings from 9:30 to noon, beginning August 6 (after the bridge lesson series has concluded).
Couples Bridge will be held on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m., beginning June 9th, with an option of going out for dinner after play. You will play with the same partner for the evening. While registration is not necessary, we are asking you to let the Nelsons or the Littersts know if you are interested in playing on Tuesdays. They have volunteered again to coordinate this group’s communication. Donna Nelson’s email is [email protected]. Lois Litterest’s email is [email protected]. You may also contact either couple in early June in Door County.
No advance registration is required for either of these open play times. Just come as often as you wish. (Reminder, you do need to be a member in good standing with dues paid to play).
