The EYC’s Ice Cream Social is a cherished July 4th tradition. Before heading out to watch the fireworks, come to the EYC at 7:00 p.m. to celebrate the 4th with ice cream sundaes. We ask that you bring a topping to share for the Ice Cream Sundae Bar (e.g. syrups, candy, whip cream, nuts). Three flavors of ice cream generously provided by IcecreamSource.com. Geezer ‘Gatta- Saturday, July 6

Ladies Sunset Social! All Ladies are invited to wine and dine on the EYC dock at our sunset social on Thursday, July 11, 6pm. This social event is traditional First Mates Potluck style, everyone please bring a dish to pass. BYO drink of choice, cups, ice, and water provided. We’re looking forward to hosting this event on our dock, the best sunset viewing there is!
Rich Hall / 420 regatta results
This past weekend, the EYC hosted the Rich Hall/420 Regatta. We had 13 boats competing, 7 from the EYC and 6 from South Shore Sailing Club (Milwaukee). With great wind, 6 races were completed on Saturday. On a chilly Sunday morning, 3 additional races were completed.

It is with great sadness that the EYC announces the passing of Glen Pentler on Monday, June 24th. Our sincere condolences goes out to his wife, Kathy and all his family and friends. Glen was a long time member at the EYC and loved spending time in Door County.

10th Aaron R Moore Scholarship Fundraiser- Friday, June 28
It’s finally here, the event of the season! On Friday, EYC members and friends will kick-up their heels and enjoy a Texas-style evening under the stars at About Thyme Farm in Bailey’s Harbor. Participants will indulge in mouthwatering, slow-cooked BBQ catered by Alexander’s, while you two-step the night away to the beat of country music brought to you by DJ Kevin McHugh. This Denim & Diamonds sparkling event raises funds to give Door County children the opportunity to steer their lives for the better through partnership and teamwork as they learn to sail. EYC fulfill its mission to ensure the continuity of the EYC sailing program while we make a difference to the young folks in our community. Carpooling is recommended.

This week’s junior activity will take place at Sister Bay Sports Complex for our annual Kickball game. Come out and join us for a great evening of friendly competition. Please bring your favorite snack to share and your child should wear close toed shoes and have their water bottle. Drop off (6 p.m.) and Pick up (7:30 p.m.) is at the Sister Bay sports complex 2383 Maple Dr.

EYC Staff Complete Level 2 Training
The EYC hosted a US Sailing Small Boat Level 2 Instructor certification course on Saturday, June 22nd and Sunday, June 23rd. The course was led by Allison Jolly (Gold Medalist (1988) and Varsity Sailing Coach for the University of South Florida). EYC Instructors Hayden Johansen, Penelope Whiteside, Carmen Graham, Henry Tasker, Nathan Taylor, Will Knight and Charlie Dischner successfully completed the training!! Way to go! On Monday, June 17th the EYC starts their 2 week sailing sessions. We have a few spots left in our classes which are held in the morning and the afternoons. We wrapped Session A last Friday. For each session the EYC recognizes two students their accomplishments. This session’s Sportsman and Happy Camper award went to Sawyer Lietzke and Eloise Stollenwerk respectively.

Pancake Breakfast
Thank you to Jane Reyerson and Lisa Forsman for all their efforts to create a delicious morning of pancakes, sausages and strawberries! To note~ one guest said, their favorite Fyr Ball activities are the Pancake breakfast and the pet parade! That’s a 26+ star Zagat endorsement. It would not be as special without all the elbow grease of the tireless kitchen sous chefs, grill masters, pancake flippers, servers and hostess/money gals! Thank you all for volunteering and making this a great morning! The money raised supports the Aaron R Moore scholarship fund which provides scholarships for sailing education for local children.

EYC Fyr Ball Family cookout was a blast! Thank you to Calista Troupe and Andrew Reynolds! They stepped up and were the amazing volunteers who grilled over 100 brats and 100 burgers/cheeseburgers. Hats off to the chefs not only for dinner, but for the Fyr on the dock! You had to be there! Thank you also to the EYC staff and to volunteers Jack O’Rourke, Laura O’Rourke, Fran Morof, Marta Fonseca, Myra DeLong, Steve Sauter, Suzanne Lisle, and Jennifer Ikeda for picking up the sheets so to speak for various aspects of this event so we all could enjoy. Bridge, Bunco and Junior Activities Begin This Week
Bridge. We have two sessions of bridge at the EYC. We have open play bridge on Mondays at 1:00 p.m. and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. We also have Couples bridge on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. After the Tuesday session, the group often has dinner together. We had a great night where we blessed the fleet, honored those that we lost in the last year including Bob Bentley, Guy Bush, Lou Kahn, Ron Litterest, Chuck Pearson, Bob Schaupp, and Bud Weaver. Blessing of the Fleet/Remembrance Ceremony/Opening Social- Saturday, June 8th
Adult members please join us on the dock Saturday, June 8th, for our first event of the 2024 season. The evening begins with the Blessing of the Fleet at 5:30 p.m., followed by a remembrance of members who have passed away at 5:45 p.m. The Opening social begins at 6:00 p.m. Beer, wine, and Champagne provided. Kids 7 and up can participate in our weekly activity during the summer season. The week’s activity will be posted at the EYC clubhouse and students/kids can sign up on the poster. Our first event of the summer, drop-off and pick-up are at the Red Putter promptly 6:00p.m.-8:00 pm.

This year, we have some changes this year for the nights our fleets will be racing. The club series is open to members and will kick-off on Saturday, June 10th. For 2024 in the evenings, Monday racing will be for our Optis and Flying Scots, Tuesdays 420’s and Lasers, Thursdays will be the RS Tera and Opti Fleet., and Fridays will remain the same with 420’s and Lasers. Saturday morning will also be for our Flying Scot racers.
We will again have 7 regattas this year: Fyr Ball Regatta(FS), Geezer-gatta (FS), Opti Regatta, 420 Regatta/Rich Hall Junior Regatta, Laser Regatta, Family Regatta, Women’s Regatta and of course, the 119th Ephraim Regatta. We will be opening up the 420 regatta to all ages this year. The regatta will also be a two-day event. We will keep a junior division to continue our Rich Hall Junior Regatta. These regattas are open to all.
