Let’s Race Flying Scots

Flying Scot Racing at Lake Monona Sailing Club

The Lake Monona Sailing Club (LMSC) in Madison, Wisconsin is hosting two Flying Scot events this summer.  The first is a Clinigatta on July 12-14, followed by the Women’s North American Championship, July 26-28.

EVENT #1: Clinigatta, July 12-14.  David Ames will be coming up from Miami to coach for the Clinigatta.  We’ll have a tuning clinic followed by practice races on Friday afternoon, with lots of racing followed by debriefs on Saturday and Sunday.  Mad Sails will be hosting a party on Saturday night out at their loft.  We’re working on plans for a Friday night social at the University of Wisconsin Memorial Union Terrace.  We’ll be sailing out of Olbrich Park on Lake Monona and have reserved parking spots at the launch ramp for up to 20 boats.  Please email Dave Gorwitz @ [email protected] if you are interested.   Registration fee will be $150 (includes light breakfasts, lunches, race clinics, ramp/parking fees, Saturday dinner at Mad Sails, Sunday awards party).
EVENT #2.  Flying Scot Women’s North American Championship, July 26-28.  Skippers and crew must be women. Practice races Friday afternoon with racing for the Championship and Challenger fleets on Sat/Sun.  Same venue, Olbrich Park, Madison, WI.  Saturday night party at Mad Sails.  Friday evening gathering at Memorial Union Terrace. Awards party at the Olbrich Park Biergarten on Sunday afternoon. We will have several loaner/charter boats available for out-of-town teams.  First-come, first served.  Loaner boat fee will be (at most) $75.  Registration $150/boat (includes light breakfasts, lunches, ramp/parking fees, Saturday dinner at Mad Sails, Sunday awards party, and some special surprise goodies).
For both events  housing will be available for out-of-town teams on a first-come, first-served basis.  There will also be limited camping available at Mad Sails.
