Men’s Night on the Pier / Lessons / EYC Skipper’s Tests

MEN’S NIGHT ON THE PIER is tonight, Friday, July15.  EYC men are invited to gather at the EYC for the Friday night Laser and FJ races.  Around 7:30 PM as the women and youth depart, we will grill dinner.  Bring meat for the grill, an optional side dish (if your wife has time to prepare one), your preferred beverage, and cigars if you smoke them.  See Note 1, below.

LESSONS.  The EYC offers sailing lessons for beginners and advanced sailors, juniors and adults, in group and private settings, mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Group lesson Session D for junior students begins Monday, July 18 and runs through July 29.  A few spaces still remain in both morning and afternoon sessions.  THE ENROLLMENT DEADLINE FOR SESSION D IS NOON SUNDAY, July 17. Enroll now before lessons fill up!  For details and to enroll, go to www.eyc.org/lessons.

One of the EYC’s week-long afternoon adult group lessons still has openings available from August 1 through August 5.

Also, the EYC’s adult evening beginner lesson has a few slots available.  This class meets every Thursday evening for three hours beginning July 28, for four weeks.

Adult lessons are designed to be relaxed and social.  Get a group of your friends together and enroll now at www.eyc.org/lessons!

EYC private lessons are available by appointment.  To schedule a private lesson, stop by the EYC or call the EYC (920) 854-7107.

SKIPPERS TESTS.  In order to skipper an EYC Flying Scot (other than during lessons), the EYC has long required members to have an EYC Skipper’s License.  EYC members under age 18 must successfully complete the EYC’s Level 4 curriculum and must pass the EYC Skipper’s Test in order to earn a Skipper’s License.

EYC skippers tests can be taken in one of three ways: (1) each Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, (2) by appointment (contact EYC Education Director Alex Zalar [email protected]), or (3) during Level 4 lessons (be sure to ask your instructor to fit in a skipper’s test in near the end of the lesson session).

The skills taught at each level of EYC lessons, and the elements of the Skipper’s Test, now can be viewed at www.eyc.org/lessons.

The ways for adult EYC members to earn a Skipper’s License are described on the EYC Water Safety Policy located at www.eyc.org/member-info.

Note 1:  Just kidding about the wives preparing the side dish.
