Mid-July Update from Ephraim Yacht Club

The sun is shining and the sailing season is heating up at EYC! Here’s a quick look at recent highlights and what’s coming up on the calendar!

Recent Highlights

EYC 3rd Annual Golf Outing 2026 The rain stopped and the clouds parted on Thursday, July 2nd for the Third Annual Ephraim Yacht Club Golf Outing at the Peninsula Park Golf Course. All five foursomes shot par or better during the scramble and enjoyed a great day of golf and the views of Eagle Harbor. Participants included Steve Latreille, Mike Parks, Rob Treleven, Todd Simonsen, Mike Lisle, Andrew Lisle, Mike Schellpfeffer, Jim Nagrant, Geoff Werner, Steve Christenson, Erik Anderson, Andrew Elliott, Doug Hambleton, Andrew Hambleton, Jack O’Rourke, Jake Lesnik, Ted Barac, Dan Mielke, Jason Potter and Andrew Gifford. The winning foursome of Ted Barac, Dan Mielke, Jason Potter and Andrew Gifford finished with a score of 63.

Recent Regatta Results

Over the July 4th weekend we held two regattas. On Friday July 3rd, We had our annual “Geezer” ‘Gatta celebrating the return of former staffers!  This year 1st place went to Stefan Peterson and crew Carrie Ritter, 2nd place went to Hayden Johansen and Charlotte Johnson,, and 3rd place went to Jackson Graham and crew Graham Ottem and Baxter Hoag! Welcome “home” to all of our returning EYC staffers. On Saturday July 4th,  we held our annual Family regatta.  This year 1st place went to Michael Faugust and crew Jennifer Ikeda, 2nd place went to Dan Meilke and his niece, and third place went to Peyton Reynolds and crew Drew Reynolds.

Thanks to everyone who came by to enjoy a little ice cream and toppings as part of your July 4th traditions.  As at many of our events our volunteers guarantee our events are  successful. Thanks to Stuart, Gabby, Jeremy and Trevor Chase, Kristy and Will Hoag, and Ty Little for scooping ice cream. Thanks to Mellisa Little , Eliana Nagrant and Jane Kennedy for setting up our club for a festive evening. A special thanks to Steve and Jess Sauter for providing the ice cream.

Upcoming Events

Family Fiesta Party | Thursday, July 16 @ 7:00 p.m.

  • Come down to the dock at 7:00 p.m. for an evening of fun, food, and festivities for members of all ages. Food will be available for purchase—bring the whole family!

ILCA District 20 Championship & Clinic

  • ILCA Pre-Regatta Race Clinic | Friday, July 17 – Train with expert coach Tarkan Bolat. Excellent preparation for the championship! LINK
  • ILCA District 20 Championship Regatta | Saturday, July 18 & Sunday, July 19 Two days of competitive ILCA racing. Regatta coaching with Tarkan Bolat is also available.

121st Ephraim Regatta and the inaugural ReBRATta Fest!

Registration is open for the 121st Ephraim Regatta, Aug. 1 – 2! To register and for more information, click here. Note: the early registration discount ends on July 17!

This year features the introduction of the ReBRATta Fest on Saturday, August 1, 6:00 p.m. hosted by the Pyles and Pearsons. All EYC members and their guests are welcome, $20 age 12 and over, $10 age 6 – 11. Wristbands for entry, as well as regatta shirts may be purchased in advance at our merchandise table: Fridays (starting July 24th) from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Below are the links to purchase ticket for ReBRATta Fest!

Volunteers Needed

We are still seeking volunteers for the regatta – race committee, on-shore, and housing of visiting sailors and race officials. If interested, please contact Jennifer Ikeda Faugust, [email protected].

Specific Volunteer Roles Needed:

  • Signal boat – 1 scorer
  • Mark boat volunteers – 4 people
  • Judge boat – drive judges on Sunday
  • Dock – help with trailers or hoist for efficient launch and return of boats
  • Housing for visiting sailors and race officials

Friday Night Welcome Party for Participants

Members are asked to donate an appetizer for the regatta participants’ Welcome Party on Friday Night. If you have questions please contact Nancy Claypool.

This promises to be a fantastic weekend of sailing, community, and celebration at the Ephraim Yacht Club. Register early, grab your wristband, volunteer if you can, and join us for ReBRATta Fest!

Looking Ahead in August

  • Annual Membership Meeting Friday August 7th at 1:00 p.m.
  • Commodore’s Cocktail and Awards Party Saturday August 8th at 6:00 p.m.
