The EYC is hiring a Race Manager

The Ephraim Yacht Club is soliciting applications for the position of RACE MANAGER for the 2014 summer season.

The position is part-time.  Hours will vary but will be approximately 20 to 30 per week. Duties include serving as primary race officer of the EYC’s weekly sailboat races and some of the EYC’s smaller regattas, including conducting daily draws for member use of EYC-owned racing sailboats, setting race courses, conducting races using the EYC’s powerboats and other race management equipment, and scoring. Candidates are preferred who can start work not later than June 9 and work through August 10, 2014.

The EYC holds races on weekend days and some weekday evenings.

Applicants should have a basic knowledge of procedures of racing small sailboats, should have some experience operating small powerboats, and should be reasonably competent in using computers. Applicants who have completed their sophomore year of high school by June 9, 2014 are preferred. Training or certification in race management by US Sailing is helpful but not required. Certification in operating a powerboat by US Sailing or the US Power Squadron is helpful but not required. The EYC will provide race management training. Current Adult and Child CPR /First Aid / AED certificates are required before starting work. The EYC will reimburse a successful candidate for CPR / First Aid / AED course tuition, but the employee is responsible for finding, enrolling in and completing the CPR / First Aid / AED courses prior to start of work.

The position pays $13 per hour and can pay more depending on qualifications and experience.

If qualified, the Race Manager will also be trained as an EYC Junior Instructor and can be scheduled to work additional hours as a Junior Instructor.
