EYC Miscellany

EYC racers and spectators were reminded yesterday that accidents can happen at any time, even during good weather and even during activities thought to be safe.  Paramedics used the EYC pier to evacuate a young girl (not an EYC member, as far as we know) who suffered a severe injury in a motorboating – tubing accident.

Almost all accidents on the water can be prevented by using common sense, being careful, and wearing a PFD.  Think safety first!

The EYC’s annual WOMEN’S REGATTA will take place on the evening of Wednesday, August 1.  The first race is scheduled for 5:00 PM, and up to four races may be held.  The regatta is open to all female participants regardless of EYC membership.

The drawing for qualified EYC members to skipper an EYC-owned Flying Scot in the Women’s Regatta will take place in advance, by e-mail.  If you wish to participate in the drawing, you must send an e-mail to [email protected] before 3:00 PM on Monday, July 30, stating your name and that you wish to participate in the drawing.  The drawing results will be emailed to drawing participants on July 30.

To skipper an EYC-owned Flying Scot you must be an EYC member and you must have an EYC Skipper’s License.  The list of Skipper’s License holders is at www.eyc.org/member-info.  If your name is not on the list, and you believe it should be, please contact EYC Director Alex Zalar [email protected] as soon as possible to cause the list to be updated, or to schedule an in-person assessment to determine if you can be on the list.
