EYC Annual Membership Meeting Tomorrow-Friday, August 8th
The EYC Annual Membership Meeting will be held on Friday at the clubhouse at 1:00 p.m. Pack a lunch and come for the end of session E awards picnic at noon, purchase some EYC swag at the pop-up shop, and stay for the meeting.
Commodore’s Cocktail Party and Awards- Saturday, August 9th
Please join us on Saturday, August 10th from 6:00 pm-8:00 p.m. for the Commodore’s Cocktail party at beautiful Hidden Acres Farm in Sister Bay. Join us for our end of season social and EYC awards announcements. All ages welcome! Please bring an appetizer to share. Wine, Beer, soft drinks and water provided.

Women’s Regatta Wrap-up
On Monday, August 4th, the EYC held their Women’s Regatta during the Monday night weekly Flying Scot Series. We had 5 boats competing. The winners of the Women’s Regatta were in 1st place, skipper Nancy Claypool and crew, Carol Claypool. In 2nd place, skipper Jennifer Ikeda and crew, Karen Nordahl. In 3rd place, skipper, Lily Ahrens and crew, Thanks to all our staff for running the regatta to all our participants.
This past weekend, the winds put our motto to the test! Light winds prevailed over Eagle Harbor during the 2 day Ephraim Regatta and the MidWest District Championships and only one race was able to be run on Saturday. We had 22 boats representing 8 yacht clubs participating. The winners for the Ephraim Regatta were in 1st Place representing the Lafayette Sailing Club, Gadzooks! with skipper Kevin Kunz and crew Gene Vogel. In 2nd place representing the EYC Reindeer II with skipper Jay Lott and crew, Calista Troup. In 3rd place representing the EYC, Skizot with skipper Woody Heidler and crew Isak Peterson. In 4th place representing the EYC, Silver Bullet with skipper Michael Faugust and crew Jennifer Ikeda. In 5th representing the Cowan Lake Sailing Association, Kitchen Sink IV with skipper Bruce Kitchen and Crew Lynn Kitchen.
The EYC also presents trophies in specific categories. The Vail Cup was presented to the winner of the first race, skipper Kevin Kunz, and crew Gene Vogelin Gadzooks!. The Knudson trophy is presented to the top finishing husband/wife team and the trophy was presented to Michael Faugust and Jennifer Ikeda in Silver Bullet. The Sturgis Trophy honors the top finishing skipper under 18 and this was presented to Charlie Dischner of the EYC.
The MidWest District Championship winners were in 1st Place representing the Lafayette Sailing Club, Gadzooks! with skipper Kevin Kunz and crew Gene Vogel. In 2nd place representing the EYC Reindeer II with skipper Jay Lott and crew, Calista Troup. In 3rd place representing the EYC, Skizot with skipper Woody Heidler and crew Isak Peterson. In 4th place representing the EYC, Silver Bullet with skipper Michael Faugust and crew Jennifer Ikeda. In 5th representing the Neenah Nodaway Yacht Club, GranDude with skipper Thomas Morley and crew Carol Morley.
The MidWest District also presents trophies in specific categories. The Whipper Snapper award is presented to the top finishing skipper/crew under the age of 32 and this was awarded to skipper Max Meilke, EYC and crew, Sara Iselin from Commodore Decatur Yacht Club. The Fleet 135 Trophy recognizes the top finishing Yacht Club and was presented to the Ephraim Yacht Club. The Century Club award is presented to the top finishing boat with the combined age of over 125 and was awarded to skipper Kevin Kunz and crew Gene Vogel in Gadzooks!

The EYC is saddened to announce the passing of member John Guenther. John came to love the EYC later in life as he watched his grandchildren grow through the program and supported them in their sailing endeavors. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, especially Liz, John, Kate and Charlie Dischner.
The EYC is saddened to learn of the passing of longtime member, Joan Schaupp. Joan passed away at 92 on July 25, 2025 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Ephraim was an important part of Joan and Bob’s life for many years. Joan loved walking to the end of the EYC Dock to watch the sunset. She enjoyed jumping of the end off the dock and swimming so much that she donated the current ladder on the dock to make it easier to get out of the water. The EYC expresses their sincere condolences to Joan’s family and friends.
The EYC Women’s Regatta will take place on Monday, August 4th during the regular Flying Scot Monday series races. The regatta is open to all EYC members. The boat draw for EYC-owned boats will be at 5:00 p.m., the optional skippers meeting will be at 5:30 p.m., and the first warning signal will be at 6:00 p.m. Please review the NOR/SI HERE
Last Junior Activity- Wednesday, August 6th
This week will be our last Junior Activity of the summer. We will be returning to the Red Putter for a fun night of putt putt. Please pick up and drop off at the Red Putter, 6:00p.m.-7:30p.m and each child should bring $7. Ages 8 to 17 years are welcome. Younger children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Laser Regatta Wrap-up
Last weekend, July 26th and 27th, the EYC held their Laser Regatta. We had 15 participants in two fleets, Lasers and Laser Radials, Representing 4 yacht clubs. The winners of the Laser fleet were in 1st place from Geneva Lake Yacht Club, Grace Toney, and in 2nd and 3rd from the Ephraim Yacht Club, Michael Faugust and David Poquette. In the Laser Radial fleet, the winners were in 1st place from Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club, Frankie Pichette and in 2nd and 3rd place from the EYC, Henry Knight and Calvin Hoag. Thanks to all our PRO Ed Purcell, the EYC Staff, Claudia Werner for coordinating the Racers dinner on Saturday night and to all our participants.
We just learned that the boat we would use as our committee boat for the regatta is not in working order. We are in need of another boat that has a bathroom and can hold 6 people. The boat and owner will be needed both Saturday and Sunday. If you can help fill this need please reach out to Woody Heidler.
Junior Activity- Capture the Flag-Wednesday, July 30th 6:00 pm.-7:30 p.m.
This week the EYC will be Capture the Flag at the Sister Bay Activity fields. Students in lessons and members 8-17 are invited to attend. Please bring a water bottle and wear closed toed shoes. No children aged 7 and under should be on the activity without a parent to supervise them throughout the activity.
Our Friday and Saturday Weekly Series will not be held this week.
We need all hands on deck as this year the EYC will be the host to the 120th Ephraim Regatta as well as the Flying Scot Midwest District Championship.

Friday, August 1st is the Ephraim Regatta Welcome Party. We are asking all fleet members, sailors, volunteers, and interested club members to support this event. Please bring an appetizer down to the club no later than 5:30 p.m. on Friday August 1st. We will have many sailors who have traveled long distances and we’d like to show them our EYC hospitality by providing some light fare the night before the regatta. Laser Regatta July 26th and 27th
The Laser Regatta is open to all sailors. EYC members are eligible to use club boats and will be entered into the boat draw upon registration. Registration is available online at this link Laser Regatta and also on race day at the clubhouse. Early registration ends on Friday, July 25th at 5:00 p.m.

Opti Regatta Results
What a great weekend for our Opti Regatta! On Saturday, July 12th and Sunday, July 13th the EYC held their annual Opti Regatta. We had 9 boats in the fleet representing Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club, South Shore Yacht Club and the EYC. First place overall went to Rohan Goettleman, SBYC. 2nd place to Henry Thacker, SSYC and 3rd Place to Morris Schoenung, SSYC. First Place female went to Britta Hubertz, SSYC. Congratulations to all our competitors and to Sarah McCabe and Ellen Kenelly for coordinating the sailors luncheon.
Men’s Night
EYC Men’s Night 2025 was a rousing success. 50 men arrived with an array of food and drink to share. The fire pit was alive with stories. Thanks to Bill Andersen, Quinn Brennan and Steve Sauter for hosting!
