This Week at EYC: Memorial Day Weekend.

In this message:  Lesson Sign Up, Saturday, May 23rd work day, Racing Schedule, Fyr Bal Weekend Activities.

Already, there have been many hands at EYC getting ready for the 2015 season.  We look forward to seeing you at EYC soon!

EYC Sailing Lesson Opportunities:  Yes, It is already Memorial Day Weekend! Its a great time to sign up for sailing classes.. for you and your children!

Women’s Sailing Class (July 20-24) will focus on Beginner and Intermediate skills. This would be the perfect way to brush up and prepare for the Women’s Regatta on July 28. Enroll the kids in afternoon lessons and enjoy a week on the water yourself!

Optimist Clinics (July 9 & 10) Do you have a Beginner or Intermediate sailor in the family? Take advantage of Bobby Collins’ excellent coaching in these two day clinics. Session B Beginner lessons will end on Wednesday, July 8, to allow students to attend this clinic. It is the ideal preparation for the annual Optimist Regatta, which will follow on July 11 & 12. No membership is required for this clinic, so it would be perfect for visiting friends.

Adventure Sailing This new class will feature destination sails in Eagle Harbor. Open to ages 7-17 and all skill levels, it is designed for siblings, cousins and visiting friends who want to sail together. Think hybrid of lesson sessions and Junior Activities. Four one week sessions in July and August.

Powerboat Skills Do you have a teen interested in working at the EYC in the future? Our own Roger Waleffe is a newly qualified US Powerboating Instructor. He will be teaching students the basics of powerboat skills and safety. These skills are a pre-requisite for employment at the EYC.

Please visit the Education page at www.eyc.org/lessons for more details on these classes, as well as registration links. Please contact Liz Gheorghita at [email protected] with questions.

Spring Clean up- Clubhouse opening.   Saturday, May 23rd. 9:00 am sharp!

We look forward to  Spring Clean Up day on Saturday, May 23rd starting at 9am sharp!  Please come help get the club ready for summer.  Gardening, cleaning and boat moving are just some of the chores to be done.  Picnic to follow, please bring a side and beverage.  Burgers and Dogs  will be provided.
Thanks to EYC volunteers, the first step of Spring Clean Up has been completed! We have removed the floating piers, hanging platforms and winter storage racks from the area. Thanks to Steve Sauter and his team for removing the floating piers on Thursday! And, thanks to Sibylle Tasker, Heather Andersen, Topher Andersen, Bjorn Hooper, Jim Nelson, Matt (Smitty) Smith, Kim Miller and Fred Lewis for spending last Saturday morning on the dock moving 420s and associated equipment, and removing the hanging platforms and storage racks! We had a beautiful morning on the dock with sunshine, very light winds and great temperatures! The floating piers and hanging platforms are not needed this season because of the higher water levels. This is just the beginning though.  We’ll see you this Saturday morning to finish up the task!
