EYC to host ILCA District 20 Championships!

I am excited to announce that EYC will be hosting the ILCA (Laser) District 20 Championships July 18/19. District 20 consists of Wisconsin and Illinois and is one of the more active districts in the country. We expect high participation from racers within and outside of our district with as many as 50+ boats making up as many as three different classes, ILCA 7, ILCA 6 and ILCA 4. Registration for the regatta and clinic/coaching can be done by clicking here: ILCA d20 Champs
An early bird discount is available so be sure to sign up soon. Regatta fee includes participation prize, after race food on Saturday and continental breakfast each morning.
Participation in this regatta requires an ILCA membership. You will be prompted to renew or join ILCA while signing up for the regatta.
For members using club boats, a boat draw will occur 3 weeks before the regatta. This will allow you to work on your assigned boat to ensure that all rigging, sails and blades are according to your preference. For members using club boats, your regatta fee will be discounted by the amount of the ILCA membership.
In addition there will be a race clinic on July 17 put on by an International level competitor, Tarkan Bolat, who is currently residing in Chicago. He will also be offering on the water coaching during the regatta. Sign up for the clinic (unlimited) and optional coaching (limit 4) will also be on our website for a fee. A bit about Tarkan:
Tarkan Bolat is an ILCA sailor and coach originally from Romania, where he grew up competing at the international level. He started sailing Optimist at age 11 and progressed through Laser Radial and ILCA 7, representing Romania at major international events including the Sailing World Championships. Throughout his junior and youth career he won multiple Romanian national titles and Europacup events.
Tarkan has experience sailing and coaching several classes including ILCA, 49er, C420, and J/105, and has worked with youth sailors at Chicago Yacht Club. His coaching focuses on combining technical boat-handling development with tactical decision making and race strategy. He currently lives in Chicago and remains active in the ILCA fleet while working professionally in the data and AI field.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the water!
