As per the calendar, this week is the last week of our Open Play Bridge. In fact, the club is officially closed as of Friday the 28th. Keep an eye out for emails in early 2019 regarding membership renewal. Until then, have a great off-season!

This is the last EYC weekly email of the summer, so it is time to say our thanks!! First up…
Thanks to everyone who helped with the Fall Cleanup!
The weather held and we had a great turnout for our Fall Cleanup. Thanks to all of our volunteers, we were able to accomplish everything on our extensive work lists. We are very fortunate to have great volunteers as members of the EYC! Thanks to Jack O’Rourke for his work at the grill! And, thanks to Jodi Hoyerman and the Gibraltar Sailing Team for doing some prep work on Friday afternoon giving us a nice jump start for the cleanup activities.
According to our sign-in sheet and our collective memories, here’s who helped on Saturday in no particular order: Bob Kieckhefer, Gordon Rowley, Hugh Haggerty, Laura O’Rourke, Kim Miller, Bob Schmidt, Jack O’Rourke, Tom McMahan, Matt Winnacker, Liz Gheorghita, Jennifer Ikeda-Faugust, Michael Faugust, Craig Rawlins, Nancy Claypool, Suzanne Lisle, Heather Andersen, Bill Andersen, Kay Tschannen, Keith Tschannen, Geoff Werner, Cain Goettleman, Chalyn Elking, John Dischner, Liz Dischner, Kate Dischner, Charlie Dischner, Skip Heidler, Debby Heidler, Joani Lewis, John Peterson, Deanna Peterson, Jodi Hoyerman, Rick Hoyerman, Eric Hoyerman, Sally Schoendorf, Sue Lewis, Fred Lewis.
You really have to hand it to those who volunteer over Labor Day weekend to clean! Next on the list…
Our volunteer recognition system has a winner!
This last winner of the season is Rich Bierman! Thank you to all who used our new recognition system to thank each other. This week’s volunteers were Rich Bierman, Stephanie Richter, Deb Heidler and Geoff Werner.
And lastly, thanks to ALL OUR MEMBERS!
We simply wouldn’t have a club without you. I mean it: thank you. See, now I’m getting all emotional …
Get a free lunch if you help close the club. Sat. 9 am.
Yup, there is such a thing as a free lunch. Please come to the EYC this Saturday Sept 1st 9 am for our annual “Fall Cleanup.” We will be putting away boats and equipment, securing the dock for winter, and organizing the clubhouse. Please come ready to work together and then celebrate with a lunch time BBQ (brats, dogs and chips are provided along with lemonade and cookies). There are jobs for everyone. We’re hoping to get 50 volunteers to make for manageable work. You won’t want to miss out on this last event of the season! We will plan to start at 9:00am sharp.
Want to add an email address to this EYC blast?
“We have the technology.” Simply go to this link and add your address (thanks to Cain for setting this up). Feel free to share the link with anyone who wants to be getting these emails but isn’t for some reason. And I promise, since summer is nearly over (sniff sniff) there won’t be much in the way of communication for the next 9 months.
Fall Cleanup and BBQ, Saturday, Sept 1st, 9 am – noon.
In Door County over Labor Day Weekend? Lucky you. Come join fellow members and committee chairs on Saturday, Sept. 1st from 9am to noon in our traditional “Fall Cleanup.” This time-honored and rewarding tradition involves members working together to put away boats and equipment, securing the dock, and organizing the clubhouse. Members should come ready to work together and then celebrate with a lunch time BBQ (brats, dogs and chips are provided along with lemonade and cookies). We’re hoping to get 50 volunteers to make for manageable work. You won’t want to miss out on this last event of the season! We will plan to start at 9:00am sharp.
Disclaimer: Reading EYC news may result in sadness or jealousy for those who won’t be spending any more time in Door County this summer.
Regatta Tech Shirts: Sold out but we’re ORDERING MORE!
The 113rd Ephraim Regatta design created by Jess Sauter was so popular we sold out. For those who missed out (or who procrastinated but now regret it), we’re ordering more and can also order the women-cut shirt. If you’d like a tech shirt, please contact Jennifer at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, Aug 22 and we’ll fast-track that order in time for payment and pickup at Club Closing, Sat. Sep. 1.
Limited hours to take out boats during late August
It is that time of year (sniff sniff) … and that means our staff are returning to school, leaving the dock under-staffed. Volunteer Jodi Hoyerman has generously offered to sign out boats during selected hours to qualified members. Please see the notice at the club for details.

The survey is open to one response per membership and the hope is to hit 100 (and we are close!). If no one from your family has done it yet, please click here and log in to your club express account to take the survey and I promise that this will be the VERY LAST MESSAGE ABOUT THIS.

Ephraim Regatta deadlines are real, and they are approaching
The early bird registration ends TODAY, July 26 at 5:00 p.m. and registration closes Thurs. Aug 2. Still hope to use an EYC boat for this regatta? A favorite for juniors aged 8-18 (younger can come if with an adult). This one at the Pyle’s house from 6-8 (see directory for address). Sign up in clubhouse. Volunteers sign up here.
The EYC is very needy. Here’s a list:

The Commodore’s party on Aug 11 still has spots that need filling
