Race ’til it hurts!

Haven’t had enough racing in this summer? Stop whining, pull on your gloves and slap on the sunscreen because it’s nonstop racing for the next few days. Here is the line up this week:

Tonight (Thursday) – Opti and Flying Scot series racing. Perfect for tuning up. Get out there!

Friday – Laser and 420 series racing. The competition has been tough. Who will come out on top this year? Come watch the competition and join the after-event Potluck to close out the day. Bring something to share.

Saturday morning – Flying Scot series racing. A “must do” if you want to be ready for the Ephraim regatta.

Saturday afternoon – Rich Hall Youth Regatta. the NOR and SI are now posted! This year’s regatta is a one day event. Skippers must be at least 12 years old but must not have reached their 18th birthday.  Crew must not have reached their 18th birthday. Please pre register now by sending your email to [email protected]

Sunday – The Laser Regatta. This regatta is open to all ages. Full rig and radials will race together but be scored separately.  We expect to have racers from other clubs so make sure to tune up between now and then. Register early and be sure to indicate if you intend to use full or radial. Please pre register now by sending your email to [email protected]

Monday – recover.  Take ibuprofen.

Favorite Junior Activity = Water Games!! Wed. July 25th 6-8pm

Do not let junior miss this one (sign up on poster at EYC). And we need some parent volunteers to sign up here.

Commodore’s Office Hours, next two Mondays, 8:30-9:30 am

Jennifer will be at the club, Monday morning on July 23 and 30th, from 8:30 – 9:30. Stop in to say hi and provide thoughts on the EYC, or thoughts on life generally (like, what is the meaning of it all anyway?).

Ephraim Regatta — Deadlines are fast approaching.

The deadline for the EYC boat draw is tomorrow Friday, July 20 — email Matt Anderson or Stacey Rieu at [email protected]. And register to race soon as the registration early bird discount ends July 27th. Also we desperately need volunteers: a) one able-bodied person to assist on a safety/tow boat on Saturday Aug. 4th and b)dock/crane help for both days. Please please please (I said please!) contact Stacey Rieu if you can help at [email protected]

Open Call for EYC Board of Director Nominations

This year’s EYC Nomination Committee:  Craig Rawlins (Chair), Nancy Claypool, and Deanna Peterson are seeking nominations for 2019 Board of Director positions.  If you are interested in serving the Club in a leadership role (and can accept the fame that comes with it), please reach out to a member of the committee or email Craig at [email protected] by July 31st.

And the volunteer winner is…

We’re recognizing volunteers with a drawing for gift certificate (you can submit names here or fill out a form on our clubhouse bulletin board). We had many names submitted into our random draw for a $25 Chef’s Hat Certificate and the winner is… well… ME! (your email blogger, Marguerite Roza).  Now you’re probably wondering if the thing is rigged (I swear, it’s not!).  THANK YOU to all those submitted: Fred Lewis, Marsella Fults, Ron & Lois Litterest, Sherry Moore, Lisa Gifford, Chris Schoendorf, Jeanne Papenthien, Cain Gottelman, Geoff Werner, Sondra Annoye, Claudia Werner, Michael Faugust, Carol Claypool, Liz Gheorghita, John Dischner, Shannon Grier, and Jodi Hoyerman! Please keep the recognitions coming the next drawing will be in two weeks!

Speaking of volunteering… We still need more folks for a few events.

Sign up here. C’mon, everyone’s doing it! (Does peer pressure even work any more?).

Come in to EYC anytime to pick up your directory.

We would love to see you on the dock!

Serve as a Career Mentor to EYC Staff

Our members together have incredible career experiences and expertise, and we’re hoping to tap into that with a Career Mentoring program for our staff.  We have young EYC staff who have expressed a wide range of interests from finance in Commercial Real Estate, the medical field, data analytics, to environmental and urban studies. If you enjoy mentoring and are interested in meeting a staff person for coffee or lunch, please contact Jennifer Ikeda Faugust, at [email protected]
