This week at the EYC

Flying Scot Races Start Tomorrow & Pre-Race Chalk Talk

The EYC’s Club race series begins this Saturday morning, June 11, with the Flying Scots 10:00 am start. This summer, our Flying Scot fleet is hosting a series of 15 minute chalk talks prior to the Saturday races from 9:00-9:15 am.

This week, Michael & Jennifer Faugust will lead the chalk talk and share “go fast” tips.  Next Saturday, Ryan Malmgren of Mad Sails will lead our chalk talk prior to the Fyr Ball regatta.  All members are welcome to attend and help us raise the level of sailing within our club and fleets.

One Week until the Fyr Bal Pancake Breakfast

Mark your calendar now for the Fyr Bal Pancake Breakfast, June 18 beginning at 7:30 AM at the Ephraim Village Hall. All-you-can-eat pancakes, fresh Marchant’s pork sausage, juice and coffee. A great way to start off your Fyr Bal Saturday, and it benefits the EYC! We still need a few more volunteers to help run this event. If you can help, please contact event chair Jay Lott [email protected]

Education Notes:

New Laser Class added! We’ve just added an additional section of Intro to Lasers for Session D, which runs from July 25 through August 5. And don’t forget about the Laser clinic on July 16 & 17.  We have a limited number of club owned Lasers that are available on a first come, first served basis so sign up soon.

Don’t forget there are several newer classes offered this year, especially for those students in the Beginner/Intermediate skill levels. If you have any questions as to how these classes fit into the curriculum or for which classes your student would be eligible, please feel free to contact Liz Gheorghita at [email protected].

Private lessons are a great way to brush up for a summer on the water after a long winter.  You can take one lesson to focus on one particular skill, or a week or more at any of the skill levels offered at the EYC, Beginner through Racing.  The schedule is flexible and lessons can be booked directly with Erica Heidler, Club Director, at (920) 854-7107.  More information and pricing can be found at http://ephraimyc.wpengine.com/private-sailing-lessons/.
