This Week- July 31. The Ephraim Regatta! Brat Fest! Water Games!

It’s the biggest week of the season at EYC!  So many amazing events in one week- we hope to see you at a few of them.

Friday, July 31st.

Registration continues for the Ephraim Regatta.  Registration  ends Saturday morning at 9:00am. To register, click here

1:00 pm.  Pre Regatta Clinic.  The Pre-Regatta Clinic featuring Ryan Malmgren and Larry Taggart will start at 1:00 pm.  Boats should be rigged and launched prior to the start of the clinic.

6:00 pm.  Regatta Welcome Party.  All members and friends are invited the the Regatta Welcome Party at Olga Dana Green( across from EYC). Adults $10, Kids $5.  Pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, baked beans, cookies, water and lemonade.  Please bring your own adult beverage if you are of age and you desire. Enjoy the beautiful water view!

Saturday, August 1st.

8:30-9:30 am.  Competitor Check in for Ephraim Regatta:

11:00 am. Ephraim Regatta First Race scheduled to begin.

Please note:  anyone wishing to help for a few hours with the regatta this weekend, please contact Bjorn Hooper at [email protected] or Nancy Claypool at [email protected].

6:00 pm.  Bratfest Party at the Kleins.  The 40th annual Bratfest will take place at the Klein residence.  3282 Gibraltar Road starting at 6:00 pm.  This is open to all EYC members and guests.  Cost:  $14 for adults, $11 for children.  Volunteers are still needed!  Please contact Laura O’Rourke if you are able to help Friday for set-up or Saturday to help collect money.    312 953-8320.  Thanks again for the Klein family for the hard work and commitment it takes to make this amazing party possible.

Sunday, Aug 2nd

Ephraim Regatta continues.  Awards ceremony to follow final race.

Wednesday, August 5th

5:30-7:30 pm.  Junior Activity. Water Games.  Yes- that’s right- the event you wait all year for.  Come on out, get your bandana, and claim the title of Water Games Champion.  Please wear a swimsuit, watershoes, active clothing to participate in land activities as well.  Junior Activities are for children who have completed 1st grade.  Sign up on the poster at EYC by Wednesday at 12:00pm. Cost for this event is $5.  Please note that dinner will not be served at this event.

Thursday, August 6th

5:30 – 7:30 pm.  Teen Activity. Pool and  Pizza Party at the Pyle’s.  A great way to finish off the year, with the final teen activity.  Please wear your swimsuit, and bring a towel.  Pizza and beverages will be provided.  $5.  Please sign up on the poster at EYC.

 

Saturday, August 8th

6:00 pm  Commodores Cocktail Party at Peninsula Art School. Wine, Beer, and Soda provided- please bring an appetizer to share.  Adults $20, Children (18 and under) $10.  All proceeds benefit the Ephraim Yacht Club.

Education Notes

Session E-“Best of the EYC”

Yet another section of the popular Powerboat Skills class is now open in the mornings for the week of August 10-14. The cost is $180. The class is open to students age 12 and up, youth and adults. Those born after 12/31/88 must obtain a Boater Education Card before beginning the class.

Opti Racing was another successful class this summer. An additional section will be offered in the mornings from 9 am till noon, August 10-14. This class is perfect for those sailors not yet old enough for Intermediates and/or anyone up to age 15 wanting to improve racing skills or prepare for Optimist competitions outside the EYC. The cost for this course is $180.

Beginners and Intermediates will be offered in the mornings, and Beginners and Adventure Sailing are available in the afternoons of August 10-14.
