This week at the EYC June 28 – July 6

The EYC needs to borrow a Laser, for use in our Laser clinic on July 10-11.  We only need to borrow the hull, not the rig, sail or blades.  If you have a Laser hull you can lend to the EYC on July 10-11, please contact [email protected]

The EYC kicks into high gear this week – it’s peak summer time!  In addition to all the EYC activities of sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, racing, sunning, swimming, lessons, ping-pong, bridge, bunco, four-square, picnicking, and just hanging, here’s what’s going on this week:

The FAMILY REGATTA will be raced in Flying Scots, as part of the regular Saturday Flying Scot races, on the morning of June 28.  Boat draw 9:00 A.M., first warning signal 10:00 A.M.  For more information, including eligibility for Family Regatta prizes, see the Notice of Race at www.eyc.org/racing

The EYC’s free OPENING SOCIAL begins at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 28. The EYC will supply wine, beer, and soft drinks.  Please bring an hors d’oeuvre to share.  Dress is summer casual. Please, no dogs at this event. This event is open to EYC members and guests ages 18 and up, and to all EYC staff.

The DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR SESSION C LESSONS is noon on Sunday, June 29.  Session C lessons are offered in the morning and in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, from June 30 through July 11.  For more information, and to register, go to www.eyc.org/lessons

The WEDNESDAY JUNIOR ACTIVITY on July 2 will be a four square tournament at the EYC beginning at 5 P.M. Championship eligibility is limited to those who have completed first grade through age 15.  A champion ages 16 and older (including parents) will be crowned in a separate tournament beginning at 6:00 P.M. Sign up at the EYC beginning Friday, June 27. Each participant should bring $3 to cover snacks and prizes. Wear closed-toe shoes.

The THURSDAY TEEN ACTIVITY on July 3 will be a bike ride through Peninsula State Park, beginning at the EYC at 5:00 P.M., stopping at Not Licked Yet in Fish Creek for food and/or custard, and returning to the EYC. Bring your own bike, money for food, and a water bottle. Wear a helmet and closed-toe shoes. Participants must have completed eighth grade.

EYC members with boats of all sizes and types are invited to RAFT UP AND PICNIC to watch the fireworks at Egg Harbor on Thursday, July 3. We will meet beginning around 6:00 P.M.  BYO food, beverages, lots of fenders, and all your Coast Guard-required gear.  Look for the Peterson’s Charrette, a white sailboat displaying the EYC burgee. The Petersons have a grill for shared use, and condiments, spices and cooking utensils.  The Petersons also have some space on their boat for those who don’t have a boat. The ICE CREAM SOCIAL begins at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 4 at the EYC.  The EYC  provides the ice cream, you bring a topping and your appetite.
