Racing at the EYC in 2014

The EYC again offers a full schedule of weekly racing in 2014.  Racing begins Saturday, June 14. Racing is fun and is the fastest way to get better at sailing! You can sail an EYC-owned boat for free, and there is no charge to race.

The weekly racing schedule:

Saturday Flying Scots: 10:00 A.M.

Saturday Lasers: 2:00 P.M.

Sunday Optimists (all ages 15 and under): 10:00 A.M.

Sunday 420s and Lasers: 2:00 P.M.

Monday Flying Scots: 6:00 P.M.

Tuesday Optimists (all ages 15 and under): 6:00 P.M.

Thursday Optimists (all ages 15 and under): 6:00 P.M.

Friday 420s: 6:00 P.M.

All times are the first warning signal.  The drawing for EYC members to use an EYC-owned boat is one hour earlier. Thus, for example, the boat drawing for the Friday 420s is at 5:00 P.M.

For more information and for the complete schedule of 2014 EYC races and Regattas, see the applicable Notice of Race, to be posted soon at www.eyc.org/racing

For details on who is qualified to skipper an EYC-owned Flying Scot in EYC races, see the EYC’s Safety Policy at www.eyc.org/member-info and see the EYC’s list of Skipper’s License holders also at www.eyc.org/member-info

No Skipper’s License is required to skipper an EYC-owned Optimist, Laser, or 420 in an EYC race. Members are requested to use good judgment in deciding whether to race or continue to race, based on your own size and strength, wind velocity, air and water temperature, and your skill level. Parents are responsible for deciding whether their children should race or continue to race.
