The EYC needs another Junior Sailing Instructor

The Ephraim Yacht Club is soliciting applications for the position of JUNIOR SAILING INSTRUCTOR for the 2014 summer season.  The position is part time, 25 to 35 hours per week average.  Duties include assisting in teaching in the EYC’s large sailing lesson program.  Other duties will include general clubhouse duties, member assistance, boat care and maintenance, and helping to run races.  Candidates must be available to work from Monday, June 9 through Saturday, August 9. Availability to work before June 9 or after August 9 is helpful but not required.

Applicants should be experienced small boat sailors.  Applicants who are EYC members should have received their Skipper’s License, and applicants who have not been through the EYC junior program should have completed an equivalent level of instruction in another sailing program. Applicants should be on course to complete their sophomore year of high school before starting work at the EYC, and must be 16 years old prior to June 9, 2014.

Junior Instructors are required to have US Sailing Level I instructor certification, and current Adult and Child CPR /First Aid / AED certificates.  Successful applicants will be expected to enroll in and successfully complete the Level I course and the CPR / First Aid AED course on their own prior to commencement of employment.  The EYC reimburses instructors for the tuition for all those courses.

Hourly wage is $8 for first year Junior Instructors; raises are available upon completion of certain milestones.

Applicants must provide their own housing in Door County.
