This week at the EYC August 2-11

Ephraim Regatta weekend followed by Commodore’s Party weekend…whoo hoo!

The EPHRAIM REGATTA WELCOME PARTY will take place on Friday August 2 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Olga Dana Green (the park across the street from the EYC).  All EYC members and friends, and regatta competitors and their families, are invited to this casual party.  The menu is pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, dessert. Soft drinks are included in admission price.  BYO adult beverages.  $10 ages 11 and up, $5 age 10 and under — pay at the head of the food line.  We still need some more volunteers to help with this simple, fun party.  If you can help, contact party co-chairs Laura O’Rourke [email protected] or Jeanne Papenthien [email protected]

Because of the Ephraim Regatta, the LASER AND 420 RACES normally scheduled for the evening of Friday, August 2 will not be held.  Races normally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4, also will not be held.

The 108TH EPHRAIM REGATTA takes place in Flying Scots on Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4.  Racing begins at 11:00 AM on Saturday and 10:00 AM on Sunday.  To view the Notice of Race and to register, go to www.eyc.org/racing. Discounted advance registration is available thought August 1.  The deadline to register is 9:30 AM on Saturday, August 3. For the first time in 2013, ALL COMPETITORS MUST REGISTER ONLINE AND PAY WITH A MASTERCARD OR VISA.  NO PAPER REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE AND YOU CAN’T PAY WITH A CHECK.

The LEGENDARY BRATFEST starts at 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 3.  $12 adults, $6 children 11 and under (children 5 and under are free).  Two free admissions are included in each Ephraim Regatta registration; additional admissions payable at the door.  Famous grilled brats, grill-roasted sweet corn on the cob, beer and soft drinks, volleyball, music, and great company.   Hosted by the Klein family.  Location: 3282 Gibraltar Road, Fish Creek, WI.  Directions from the EYC:  South on Hwy. 42 to intersection with Maple Grove Road.  Left (east) on Maple Grove to intersection with Gibraltar Road.  Right on Gibraltar Road to 3282.  Look for the flags on the side of the road.

The DEADLINE TO ENROLL IN ADULT SAILING LESSONS for the week of August 5 – August 9 is noon on Sunday, August 4.  EYC adult lessons are geared to beginners and near-beginners and take place in 5-day sessions, Monday through Friday from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.  For more information and to enroll, go to www.eyc.org/lessons

The Thursday TEEN ACTIVITY on August 8 is sailing with the Petersons and Bridenhagens on their beautiful cruising sailboats.  Meet at Yacht Works in Sister Bay at 1:00 PM.  Must wear close-toed shoes and a bathing suit, and bring your own PFD, towel, and appropriate clothes for the forecasted afternoon weather.  We will sail, swim and grill dinner.  Bring $5 for food. Pick up at Yacht Works at 6:00 PM.  Participants must sign up by 4:00 PM on August 7 on the poster at the EYC. Participants must have graduated from 8th grade. The EYC’S ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING begins at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 10 in the EYC clubhouse.  If you are an EYC member, this is another opportunity for you to give your opinion on what you want the EYC to be.  At this meeting, voting members will elect four persons to the EYC’s Board of Directors to serve three-year terms.  Please try to attend – we need a quorum in order to elect directors!

Help end the EYC’s social season in style! Come to the COMMODORE’S PARTY, Saturday, August 10 beginning at 6:00 PM at the Peninsula School of Art.  EYC members and guests of all ages are welcome at this party, which is always the highlight of the EYC’s social season.  This year, for the first time, the Commodore’s Party will feature live music! Singer Katie Schnorr and guitarist George Sawyn will perform jazz standards.  Bring your favorite appetizer; the EYC supplies wine, beer, and soft drinks.  Admission remains at $15 (adults and children age 9 and older) or $8 (age 8 and under).

The Peninsula School of Art is located at 3900 Hwy. F, Fish Creek, approximately 1 block east of Hwy. 42.
