Aaron R. Moore Sailing Scholarship Fund

The EYC’s newly created Aaron R. Moore Sailing Scholarship Fund has raised over $27,500.  As a result, the EYC will more than double the number of sailing lesson scholarships it offers in 2013!

Most of the funds were raised at a benefit dinner and silent auction on March 2 at the Lake Forest Club.  Many other donations were received from supporters not able to attend the event.

A big thank you to EYC members Sherry, Rob, Adam and Barbara Moore, for conceiving the Aaron Moore Sailing Scholarship Fund, for energetically organizing the benefit dinner, and for making Door County juniors the beneficiaries of the Fund.  Also thank you to EYC member Di Taillon for traveling to Lake Forest to assist with the benefit dinner.

The EYC also thanks the 110 people who attended the benefit dinner, including many EYC members.

Thank you to the many individuals and businesses who generously donated cash and items for the silent auction.  Please show your appreciation by patronizing these Door County businesses if you are able: Chelsea Antiques and Blue Willow Shop, Chop Restaurant, City Farmer, Clay Bay Pottery, Door County Creamery, Door County Nature Works, Ecology Sports, Fine Line Designs Gallery, FLS Banners, George Burr Gallery, Great Northern By Design, Hunter’s Fairway Sotheby’s International Real Estate, icecreamsource.com, Jo Jo’s Pizza and Gelato, Kathy Glasnap Gallery, Mad Sails, McKeefry & Yeomans, Nathan Nichols & Company, Peninsula Players, PKJ Designs, Sister Bay Trading, Scrimshanders, The Spa at Sacred Grounds, West Marine, Yacht Works.

The Fund memorializes Aaron Moore, a lifelong sailor and enthusiastic sailing instructor, who passed away in 2008.  Sailing lesson scholarships are available to EYC junior students who are year-round residents of Door County and who would not otherwise be able to enroll in sailing lessons.  For more information about sailing lesson scholarships, click here.
