This Week at the EYC July 7-15

In addition to all the usual activities at the EYC, including lessons, series races, swimming, bunco, bridge, cookouts, sunning, socializing, cocktails, and just plain going sailing, here’s what’s happing at the EYC this week:

THE EYC’S ANNUAL OPTIMIST REGATTA is the afternoon of Saturday, July 7 and the morning of Sunday, July 8.  EYC members who did not yet reach their fifteen birthday by December 31, 2011 can compete in the Optimist Regatta.  For more information see the Notice of Race at www.eyc.org/racing.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR LARRY LEWIS will take place on the EYC pier at 5:00 PM on Saturday, July 7.  All EYC members are invited.

EYC members Scott and Duska Pearson will open their home for a FUNDRAISING GALA for the EYC’s new fleet of twelve 420-class doublehanded dinghies, at 7:00 PM on Saturday July 7.  All EYC members are welcome to attend the event, which will feature music, beer, wine, cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres.  If you plan to attend but have not yet replied to the invitation, RSVP now to [email protected].  There is no specific donation amount required to attend the gala.

The WEDNESDAY JUNIOR ACTIVITY on July 11 will be kickball and a potluck supper at the Sister Bay Sports Complex.  For more information, including what to bring to the potluck, see http://ephraimyc.wpengine.com/wednesday-junior-activities-2012/  EYC junior activities are for juniors who have at least finished first grade.

The THURSDAY TEEN ACTIVITY on July 12 will be mini-golf at the Red Putter followed by pizza at Jo-Jo’s.  Drop off at the Red Putter at 5:00 PM.  Pick up at the Red Putter at 7:00 PM.  Bring $10.  EYC teen activities are for those who have at least finished eighth grade.

THE DEADLINE TO ENROLL IN SESSION D LESSONS is noon on Sunday, July 15.  Session D lessons run from July 16 through July 27.  Space is limited…enroll now before your preferred level and time fills up!  The EYC runs one of the largest sailing schools in Midwest and has a staff of eighteen instructors, each certified by US Sailing.  Both group and private lessons are offered for juniors and adults.  For more information about lessons at the EYC, and to enroll, go to www.eyc.org/lessons.

THE EYC’S ANNUAL RICH HALL JUNIOR REGATTA will be sailed in Flying Juniors on the afternoon of Sunday, July 15.  The drawing for EYC members to skipper an EYC-owned boat will be at 1:00 PM and the start of the first race will be at 2:00 PM.  No Skipper’s License is required to skipper in the Rich Hall Junior Regatta, but parents are expected to use discretion in deciding whether to allow their children to compete, taking into account skill level, size, and expected wind velocity.  For more information, see the EYC’s Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions at www.eyc.org/racing.
