This Week at the EYC June 27-July 4

The EYC has lots of events planned through the 4th of July holiday weekend.  In addition to the normally scheduled racing, lessons, bridge, and swimming and sunning on the bleachers, here’s what’s happening:

Weekly BUNCO begins Monday, June 27 at 6:30 PM (socializing) or 7:00 PM (actual Bunco competition).  Bunco is social and almost anyone can learn it – give it a try!

This week’s WEDNESDAY JUNIOR ACTIVITY is one of our most popular, Red Putter mini golf!  Meet at EYC at 5:30 PM.  We will drive to the Red Putter. After golf, we will return to EYC.  Parents, please pick up your children at the EYC between 7:15 and 7:30 PM.  Each golfer must bring $4.00 in cash.  Please sign up on the poster at the EYC (or phone the EYC and ask the staff to write your name on the sign up sheet).  Parents, remember that additional drivers are always appreciated. Junior activities are for juniors who have completed first grade and older.  Questions?  Contact Betsy Steele (920) 854-7191.

June 30 is the first day of EVENING ADULT SAILING LESSONS, 5:oo PM to 8:00 PM every Thursday. You can sign up for four weeks or eight weeks.  The lessons are designed to be social, relaxed and friendly, and include both classroom and on-the-water instruction.  Get some friends together and sign up now at www.eyc.org/lessons!  Enrollment deadline is June 30 at noon.

The THURSDAY TEEN ACTIVITY on June 30 will be a visit to the ever-popular Johnson Park in Sister Bay for an evening of mini golf, go-carts, batting cages and arcade games.  Meet at EYC at 6:00 PM. We will enjoy Johnson Park until approximately 7:30 and return to EYC no later than 8:00 PM.  Please send your teen with cash for the activities at the Park; $20 should be more than enough for a great time.   Sign up at the EYC this week.   Two chaperones and several drivers are needed.  To volunteer as a chaperone and/or driver, of if you have any questions, call Heather Andersen (847) 420-3978.

The morning of Saturday July 2 is the second annual EYC FAMILY REGATTA.  Held as part of the regular Flying Scot Saturday series, this regatta will award trophies to the top three boats which carry siblings, a parent and child, or a grandparent and grandchild.  Rustle up a family member and compete!  For more information see the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions at www.eyc.org/racing.

Sunday July 3 features the EYC’s famous, fun, family-friendly ICE CREAM SOCIAL.  The fun starts at the EYC at 7:00 PM; bring an ice cream topping.  Ice cream will be supplied by the EYC.

Monday, July 4 is the first day of LESSON SESSION C.  Sign up now at www.eyc.org/lessons before your student’s level is full!  Remember, if the morning session is full, there is often room in the afternoon session.  Sign up deadline is noon, Sunday July 3.

DOG POLICY.  For several years, we have seen an increased number of our furry friends on the pier. They continue to be welcome, but only if the dog is always 1) leashed, 2) attended by its owner, and 3) under control (which means no barking, pulling, or fighting).  Members are responsible for the actions of their dogs.  We have many children who may not know about the appropriate way to approach someone else’s pet.  Please also consider the needs of our many senior members who enjoy spending time on the EYC pier. Members will be asked to remove their dog from the EYC if the staff feels that an uncomfortable or dangerous situation exists.

Members are also reminded that SMOKING is not allowed at the EYC.  Thank you for helping to make the EYC family-friendly.
